Carrot & Spice Bircher

This is a perfect quick, simple, healthy and delicious breakfast recipe. Simply prepare it the night before ready to enjoy in the morning.

Rich in vitamins, minerals and in omega-3 fatty acids which provide a super boost to you in body and mind.

The live yogurt provides live bacterial cultures that are great for the gut. 

Provides a slow release of energy to start your day.

Serves 2
Takes 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 100g oats (optional use gluten free)
  • 350ml milk (dairy or plant based)
  • 2tbs live yogurt (dairy or plant based)
  • 1- 2tsp honey
  • 1 -2tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 -2tsp ground ginger
  • 1- 2tsp ground turmeric
  • 2tsp wheatgerm
  • 1 medium grated carrot
  • 3tbs sultanas
  • 2tbs mixed seeds

Method

Blitz the milk, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, wheatgerm and honey in a blender or with a hand whisk in a jug.

Add the yogurt, oats, carrot and 2tbs sultanas, stir well.

Pour the oat mixture into 2 350ml sterilised jars.

Sprinkle on the mixed seeds,

Top up with the left over 1tbs of sultanas.

Place in the fridge overnight.

 

To Serve

Personally, I prefer overnight oats at room temperature.
Take out of the fridge an hour before eating if you prefer it this way.
Alternatively just take out of the fridge and eat!

Tips

An ideal breakfast to prepare the night before to take to work the next day.

 

Store

Fridge 3 days.

 

Food Produce

Ideally use organic food produce where possible.

Visit your local food suppliers or farmers market for fresh produce.

Consider the animal welfare when selecting fresh meat,poultry, eggs and dairy.

Select foods that are ethically sourced.

Ideally know the provenance.

Consider eating more sustainable foods.
