Fluffy Wholegrain Rice
A quick, easy to make, healthy wholegrain rice,
Wholegrain rice is highly nutritious, providing the body with a wide range of vitamins, minerals.
A great side dish that will go with many mains.
Serves 4
Takes 25 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 mug basmati wholegrain rice
- 2 mugs hot water
- sea salt & black pepper
Method
Place the mug of rice into a pan and cover with the 2 mugs of hot water.
Place the pan on the hob and bring to the boil.
Place the pan lid on with the thin edge of a spatula underneath the lid to allow a little steam out.
Turn the heat right down and simmer very gently.
Stir occasionally.
Once the rice is cooked and the water has evaporated remove from the heat and fluff up the rice.
To Serve
Add sea salt and pepper to suit your taste.
This simple healthy rice can accompany a wide range of mains dishes.
Tips
Allow any left-over rice to cool then place into a biodegradable freezer bag, separating the rice so that it does not stick together then freeze. Ideal for access to a quick serving when you need some in a hurry.
Store
Fridge 3 days.
Freezer 1 month.
