Pear & Fig Bircher
This is a perfect quick, simple, healthy and delicious breakfast recipe. Simply prepare it the night before ready to enjoy in the morning.
Rich in vitamins, minerals and in omega-3 fatty acids which provide a super boost to your body and mind.
Provides a slow release of energy to start your day.
Ingredients
- 100gm oats (optional use gluten free)
- 350ml milk (dairy or plant based)
- 2tb live yogurt (dairy or plant based)
- 1tsp vanilla paste
- 1tsp honey
- 1-2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1-2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1-2 tsp ground cardamon seeds
- 2tsp wheatgerm
- 2 medium grated pears
- 2 dried figs, diced into small pieces
- 2tbs pumpkin seeds
- 2tbs sunflower seeds
- 2tbs walnuts
Method
Blitz the milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamon, wheatgerm, honey and vanilla paste in a blender or whisk in a jug.
Add the yogurt, oats, pear and figs, (hold back a few pieces of fig for the topping), stir well.
Pour the Bircher mixture into 2 350ml sterilised storage jars.
Sprinkle on the toppings; pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts and the remaining pieces of figs.
Place in the fridge overnight.
To Serve
Personally, I prefer Bircher at room temperature.
Take out of the fridge an hour before eating if you prefer it this way.
Alternatively just take out of the fridge and eat!
I often prepare this to take to work the next day.
