Sourdough Beef Burger
As an advocate of eating lots of plant-based foods, I do find eating some meat such as good grass-fed beef occasionally supports my health and energy levels.
Rich in protein, iron, vitamin 12, with many more vitamins and minerals.
Delicious, dense goodness that will not disappoint to satisfy you and your appetite.
Perfect for those who want to avoid the heavy bread burger types.
Serves 2
Make in 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 200 – 300g minced beef steak
- lug olive oil
- sea salt
- celery salt
- black pepper
- 1tsp Henderson’s relish
- (or 1tsp Worcester sauce)
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 4 crispy lettuce leaves
- 1 ripe tomato sliced
- sliced white onion rings
- 4 slices gherkins
- 1tbs mayonnaise
- 1tbs tomato ketchup
- 1tbs ‘Frenchie’s’ mild mustard
Method
Remove the minced beef steak from the fridge, place into a bowl, cover, and allow to reach room temperature. I often allow 1 to 2 hours for a succulent burger.
Season the minced beef steak with the Henderson’s relish, sea salt, celery salt and black pepper.
Mix thoroughly, then squeeze the mince mixture into to equal sized balls, then press down to shape into burger patties.
Put a lug of olive oil into a frying pan and place onto the hob until the oil is hot, then place the burger patties in the pan.
Cook 2 minutes on each side for a medium burger and less for a rarer burger.
In the meantime. place the 2 slices of sourdough into the toaster. Once toasted remove from the toaster and with the use of a ring cutter cut out two rings of toast. Aim for them to be wider than the width of the burger patties.
Remove the burgers from the pan onto a plate and allow to rest for the same amount of time you cooked them.
Start to assemble the burger. Spread the mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard over the toast. Add the lettuce, cooked burger, sliced Gherkins, sliced tomatoes and onions.
