Feb 23, 2025 | Lunch & Mains

Easy to make, tasty spiced kofta’s.

Excellent source of protein, minerals and vitamin B12. Also, a good source of vitamin B6 and iron.

Serves 4
Takes 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 400g minced beef
  • 1/2 small white onion finely chopped
  • 2 – 3 crushed garlic cloves
  • 1 medium red chilli finely chopped
  • 2tbs chopped fresh parsley
  • 1tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2tsp celery salt
  • 2tsp all spice
  • good pinch black pepper
  • pinch sea salt
  • good lug rapeseed oil

Method

Place the, cinnamon, nutmeg, celery salt, all spice, black pepper and sea salt together in a small bowl and stir until evenly blended.

Break the minced meat into a large bowl, then add the onions and the spice mix.

Massage the mixture until the mince takes on the spices, then mix in the parsley.

Divide the mince mixture into 10 equal portions, then squeeze each portion around a bamboo skewer to make a kofta shape.

Place the koftas to one side.

Coat a griddle or frying pan with rapeseed oil, then heat up until hot. Grilling is also an option.

Add the koftas, keep turning until charred evenly on all sides.

To Serve

Perfect with Lebanese bread, fresh side salad and pickles. I love these with my Parsley, Pickle Slaw and a good squeeze of lemon.
